CREW News
A Toad for Tuesday: Our summer reading book was A Toad for Tuesday. Currently we are reading the book aloud in class and discussing the main theme behind the story of the beloved toad, Warton and the mean old owl, George. We are looking closely at how important it is to treat others kindly, regardless of how they treat you individually. If you continue to help others and spend some time with them, sooner or later you will be rewarded, maybe with a new friend.
Nevada County Library: We begin this week with our walk to the Nevada County Library. Students need to bring their public library cards to school and I will hold them throughout the year. We will check out books that may be read in class and at home, for continued practice with our reading fluency and comprehension. Books are checked out for a period of 3 weeks, but may be renewed if your child would like to read the book for a longer period of time.
Scholastic Book Orders: This Friday is the deadline to order Scholastic Books. Catalogs were sent home last week in the Tuesday Homework Folder and books may be ordered online at www.scholastic.com or by sending in your order to school with your child. Our online ordering code for the Welch Crew is HLNVT. For every order online, our class receives one FREE book from Scholastic. Providing reading material for your child that interests them helps improve their reading skills. Thanks in advance for your support.
