Celebration of Learning: Nuts and Bolts:  Remember, Thursday, December 15th, from 6:00 to 7:30 is SELS Celebration of Learning.  This is an ALL school event that showcases the wonderful learning students at SELS have been working on durning their fall expeditions.  This event is OPEN HOUSE style, but there are a few presentations at specific times, which students in our crew need to be present during their scheduled time.  Please invited family, friends, or anyone interested in what we do here at SELS.  Feel free to check out all the classes, especially if you are interested in what expeditions you have to look forward to in future years. 

CHATAUQUA presentations:  Our scheduled times are 6:20, 6:40, and 7:00 pm.  I have emailed parents the schedule and there will be a posted schedule on the door of our classroom during the Celebration of Learning.  Please come enjoy the history of the Transcontinental Railroad as it can only be described by 2nd and 3rd grade students.  Students should arrive at SELS, in costume, at least 15 minutes before their scheduled performance.  I am very excited to see the Welch Crew impress everyone that visits.

 

CREW NEWS
 

Senior Center Service:  We have concluded our service visits to the Sierra Seniors and a great time was had by all.  This week we sang holiday carols and decorated cookies with our cross-generational buddies.  The seniors surprised all the children with gifts of books and school supplies beautifully wrapped.  This is a great way for students to share their enthusiasm with the older members of our community.

Book Orders:  I am concerned the book orders from Scholastic will not arrive before Friday.  Grrrr!  I placed the order early, hoping it would arrive before the winter break.  As of now, the estimated arrival date from UPS is Monday, December 19th.  I will keep you posted and schedule a time to deliver the books if that date is correct.  Hopefully the shipping during this week will be quicker.

I would like to wish everyone in the SELS community a safe and happy holiday and a prosperous new year.  I am looking forward to a wonderful 2012 with all your amazing children.
