Expedition Express

Celebration of Learning:  WOW!  That sums it up for me.  I was so impressed with each one of our crew members for having the courage to stand up in front of so many people and perform their Transcontinental Railroad Chatauqua’s during our December Celebration of Learning.   This is a testament to the meaningful learning that student’s experience in an Expeditionary Learning School that strives for excellence.
This type of learning is not possible without the wonderful support and encouragement students receive at home.  Thank you so much for helping your child become the best student they can be.
Case Study 3:  We are entering into our final Case Study of our Expedition entitled:  Railroad: Good or Evil?  We will take a closer look at the impact the railroad had on Native American Tribes in our region.

Crew News

Technology Lessons:  The crew has been very excited to welcome Zach Williams, our new Reading Specialist and technology guru,  into our classroom twice a week.  Students are learning the basics of computer terminology and participating in basic programs to build keyboarding and academic skills.  Each week I will let you know what websites we are using so you may continue the learning at home.  This is another great way to help students learn basic skills in a fun and interactive way.
Here are some of the websites students have been using in class:
Basic keyboarding skills:  Dance Typing Mat
Basic skill building games:  Arcademic Skill Builder

Book Orders:  January Book Orders will come home in this week’s Tuesday homework folder.  Orders will be due on Wednesday, January 18.  Remember, you may order online or send the order form to school with your child.  Continue reading at home nightly in order to continue the progress in your child’s reading skills.

I did not receive any LUCKY book orders this month, but you can order books from the LUCKY order online.  Sorry for any inconvenience.
