Another Beautiful Week

Hi all,

I wanted to fill you in on our great Board Meeting last night. After some discussion on each issue, including community feedback, the Board has approved our expansion plan (outlined below) and thought we needed a community meeting to further discuss our Middle School organization (more on this once a date is set).

Expansion: add a 2/3 and 7^th classroom in 2012-13 ; add a 4/5 and 8^th classroom in 2013-14. Every year we will bring in 20 new Kindergarteners; in ’12-13 we will add 11 3^rd graders and 12 6^th graders, and in ’13-14 we will add 12 5^th graders and 12 6^th graders. We will then be full and adding only Kindergarteners each year after that (with a few, occasional openings in other grades).

A big “Way to Go” to Mira Begg and Emma Verrue of the Brisbin Crew for presenting to the Board what their next expedition is about and what they have been doing recently in the classroom. They did a wonderful job.

Thanks to parents for helping have their students here on time. Our tardy count has gone down considerably since Winter Break.

Lunch invoices were emailed to all who owed. Please promptly send your payment to TTUSD using the information on the invoice.

HELP: Our shed door is coming off its hinges (the screws have pulled out of the wood). If any of you have a little time to come and fix it, that would be much appreciated. We will cover any materials costs.

PTC

The next PTC meeting will be held on Wed. 2/8/12 @ 5:30pm in the SELS library. We have lots going on and really need everyone’s participation. Our agenda includes:
-Crab and Pasta Feed volunteers
-Original Artwork Fundraiser: Melissa Williams chair
-SELS Yearbook: Melissa Williams to coordinate
-Wine Walk Shop…decision to be deferred to be made at Board meeting
-Teacher Appreciation Week
-Mabels Labes fundraiser, do we want to take this on?
-March 14 ski day at Tahoe Donner, do we want to participate?
-XC ski days for 4/5 and 6th grades
-swimming for K, 1, 2/3
-Tahoe Truckee Reads Campaign: Ex in Ed…sign campaign
