Hi all,

Hope everyone is enjoying the gorgeous weather.

Last week I forgot to announce our first “Distinguished Crew Members” (4th-6th grade eligible, based on excellent progress reports):

6th grade, McMains Crew: Please congratulate these students

  • Kylie Greeno, Olivia Omar, Taylor Pruski, Hyla Staudenmayer, Lucy Swanson, Kaya Wooley

This week we started our Student Council.  After classroom presentations, the elected representatives are:

  • School Captains:  5th – Addy McDermott; 6th – Olivia Omar
  • Crew Leaders:  3rd – Martin Gomez and Juan Delgadillo (tie); 4th – Drake Riina; 5th – Sawyer Thompson; 6th – Cole Bumen

We all look forward to their “having of wonderful ideas” (this month’s Design Principle) and great leadership.

We are gearing up for this year’s lottery for 2012-13 admissions. Please encourage friends/community members to check our website for dates/times/locations of these meetings.

To set up for the lottery, we need to know next year’s plans of current students. Later this week I will be sending an “Intent to Enroll” form so we have an exact count of 2012-13 openings. Those with siblings who would like to enroll, more information on that process is forthcoming as well.

To honor the process, the Board has decided to hold another community on Middle School configuration. This meeting will be the school community’s last opportunity to express ideas about the topic, and the decision will be made by the Board at the meeting. Monday, March 19 5:30-7:30 pm.

We continue to gear up for the Crab Feed. Still looking for auction donations; contact Arthur Rader (arthurrader@gmail.com) with questions, possible donations.

We will be holding parent-teacher conferences Wed/Thurs, March 28/29. Logistics are still being planned; more details next week.

PTC
SELS has been invited to join the Minimum Day March Madness at Tahoe Donner Downhill.  This is a great event being put on by Truckee El and they have invited us to join them.  Have you ever thought about trying skiing or snowboarding?  This is a great opportunity for students and adults, alike.
$10.00 for lift ticket only (SELS keeps $10)
$10.00 for lift ticket and lesson (SELS keeps $5)
$10.00 for lift ticket and equipment (SELS keeps $5)
$15.00 for lift ticket, lesson and equipment (SELS keeps $5)
It would be really fun to have a great representation from SELS…there will be a speed gun, parent/child races, President of PTO races, and a BBQ if you need some fuel!
I know a lot of you go skiing on minimum days anyway, so let’s rally and head to Tahoe Donner for a day! Tickets are being sold ahead of time…I have plenty of tickets for all….if you would like to purchase a ticket or two, let me know.  If you would like to help sell tickets, I can use some help!
Since this event is on 3/14, our PTC meeting is being moved to Monday, 3/12 @ 3:30pm.

I know many folks have told me they can volunteer for the Crab Feed.  Unfortunately, my memory  is failing….please send me an email if you can volunteer and you did NOT receive my email today!

Thanks, Marcy
