Hi all,

Great evening last night with the class premier of The Geology of California: 4.5 Billion Years in the Making. The McMains Crew shot, wrote the script, and edited the documentary under the guidance of Doug McMains. The students committed enormous time and energy to the film’s production, including time after school and on weekends. The final product is wonderfully informative and entertaining, reflecting their hard work, perseverance, and dedication to the project. We all look forward to the public’s response; the documentary has been entered in 8 film festivals, will be shown at Expeditionary Learning’s National Conference in early May, and will have local showings in April.

The Crab Feed was a huge success!  We raised nearly $10,000 for SELS.  Many thanks to all who volunteered, participated, and donated items – great job.

You will have received an email from me about a before/after school program survey. Please take the survey this week; the information received will determine whether or not we proceed with the program. The survey can be accessed at: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/RLCBH27

Drumming performance: Laurie Martin is currently our enrichment instructor and is drumming with the students: “Health Rhythms Drum Beats, the Elements.” A performance, “Student Expressions,” is scheduled for Community Meeting on Friday, March 30 from 9:15-10:30 (we will have an abbreviated Community Mtg first). Please come and show your support.

With Spring Break just around the corner, a friendly reminder to have your kids continue reading. We do not give homework over the break, but we feel it is very important to keep up the students’ good reading habits.

Please continue to let people know of our Informational Meetings. We have two remaining: Wed, March 28 at 6 pm at the FRC; and Tues, April 10 at 6 pm at SELS.

Additionally, please pass the word that we are hiring for next year: ½-time Kinder teacher; 2/3 teacher, 7th grade teacher, and a part-time Administrative Assistant (this last position will start in April of this year).
