Hi all,

Some exciting news: Haley Flaherty, a 2nd grader, won first place in the statewide, Barbara Boxer Earth Day poster contest. Yesterday, a representative from Boxer’s office came to campus to recognize Haley’s achievement; the event was covered by the Sierra Sun as well. Haley’s winning poster will be displayed in Boxer’s office at the capital and will be on her website.

Fieldwork season is gearing up so please help out when possible with driving and/or organizing – teachers love the help.

Lost and found pile is growing again; please come in and check. I will be donating remaining items mid next week.

Apologies for the cancellation of the Banana Slug String Band; they decided not to drive up in the snow. When we reschedule, I will let everyone know.

Tonight it the lottery at 6 pm. Results will be posting following the drawing.

Original Artwork went home today. Please return by Friday.

The Tahoe-Truckee Reads Program met last week and is planning some summer reading programs. Anyone interested in helping please contact Elizabeth Bell (ebell@truckeecharterschool.org), Sue Shimmon (sshimmon@ttusd.org), or Emily Salmon (tahoesalmons@sbcglobal.net).

STAR testing is coming up in early May. Teachers are sending practice sheets home; please make sure your children work on these so they are better prepared for the tests.

Please make sure you try and complete the snow day independent study – helps students keep up and provides funding.

There are a couple of parenting and child development workshops happening soon. The FRC is sponsoring a 6 week parenting series and the 9th Annual Tahoe-Truckee Child Development Conference is happening May 5. If interested, please see the attached brochures.
