Hi all,

STAR testing this week and next so things a little different and off schedule. We appreciate your having students here and on-time.

Some information to share:

  • Mr Krusi-Thom, Ms McMains, and I spent 3 days at the Expeditionary Learning National Conference in Denver. Great group of people, lots of info and ideas. After hearing from many from all over the country, we all should feel very fortunate to have such an amazing and excellent crew of teachers (how appropriate for Teacher Appreciation Week – and thank you all for your kind gifts of words and food). Our teachers dedication and commitment is evident in our high level of EL implementation; they work hard and care deeply in creating an engaging and rigorous learning environment to make sure every student receives an excellent education. The Conference highlighted this for me, and for their efforts I believe we should all be grateful.

  • Enrollment is going well and most of the new families have committed. We are still working off the wait list to fill a couple more spots.

  • Hiring of new teachers is also progressing; we met many of the teacher applicants last week and are starting interviews next week.

  • Emily Tessmer continues to provide wonderful music education and fun at chorus. She has run out of funds and snacks, so is again asking for any donations. Thanks.

  • YEARBOOK UPDATE: The 6th graders and some of the student council members have been working on putting together our 2011-2012 school yearbook. Like last year, we are hoping to have company sponsor ads for the back page to help offset the cost of the yearbooks to the students. Please contact Melissa Williams (448-9351) if you are interested. Also, we are still looking for student or parent photos of local Truckee scenery. Please email any submissions to David Manahan by this Friday. Thanks.
