Hi all,

Our final week and last Notes of ’11-12. Sad, I know, but not to worry, they will come back in full force in August. Thanks to all for the wonderful year – your children have been amazing! We feel privileged to be part of their learning and growth, and always appreciate the wonderful family community which makes up our program. Some info and updates:

  • Thurs, June 14, please join us for our closing mandala appreciation ceremony from 11:40-12. After, Passages start at 12:30 and is run in two groups until 3. If your child is presenting, they would love to have you there.

  • Friday, June 15 : Last day of school. Beginning at 9:15 we will kick off our final Community Meeting. Many thanks to all who have participated in these throughout the year. This meeting will consist mostly of celebrating those Passages students, with some additional honoring of our year. Chorus will also be presenting. Should end by 11 or so. After lunch, we will hold carnival-like activities from approximately 12-2/2:30. Please come by and participate or lend a hand. If you have a fun carnival-like game you want to set up, contact me and we can see how to help.

  • With summer coming, please keep up the reading with your children. Crew leaders will be sending out information on classroom and all-school book reads. You could also help out with our adopted neighborhood reading program. Please contact Elizabeth Bell (ebell@truckeecharterschool.org) or Sue Shimmon (sshimmon@ttusd.org) if interested.

  • Additionally, there will be times I will be putting out calls for help, particularly around campus work: fixing, building, painting, etc. If you are around and free, we would really appreciate what help you are able to provide.

  • We will be holding mandatory classroom meetings before school starts Aug 29. It is very important you attend these meetings as teachers will be explaining their classroom procedures, rules, and teaching methods. Besides providing you with a better background of our program and your child’s classroom, it will provide you with strategies to help your children be more successful. Dates and times TBD, but probably either Thurs, Aug 23 or Mon, Aug 27.

  • We know many of you are long-range planners, which you often need to be if flying. We ask that you please do not plan trips during important educational times, like the first couple of weeks of school, the week before Winter Break, the first couple weeks of May (STAR testing), and the final 2 weeks of school.

  • Unlike TTUSD (who has school Nov 19 & 20), we will not be holding school at any time during the week of Thanksgiving Break. So, no school Nov 19-23.
