Hi all,

Hope everyone’s break went well and all are relaxed and rested. The McMains Crew has partnered with the Humane Society of Truckee Tahoe for their MathDogs expedition. They want to assemble gift baskets to be given to families who adopt dogs, as well as for the volunteers to use with the dogs who are awaiting new homes. They are asking for donations of new dog items – toys, beds, leashes, collars, boxed treats, dog food … anything a dog or new dog owner might enjoy. We could also use decorative gift bags or baskets, tissue paper, and ribbon. If you can donate an item, please drop it off in the McMains classroom (M-1b) or in the Office (M-3).
Lots happening in the next few weeks before Winter Break:

  • Wed, Nov 28: MINIMUM DAY

  • Fri, Nov 30: Spirit Wear orders due; forms went home with students today and sample clothes are available for viewing in the Library.

  • Mon, Dec 3: Board Meeting, 6-9 pm in M-4. Open to everyone.

  • Fri, Dec 7: Gratitude Dinner, 6 pm, Rec Center (see PTC section below)

  • Mon, Dec 10: PTC meeting, 5:30 pm in M-2

  • Thur, Dec 20: Celebration of Learning, 6 pm

GRATITUDE DINNER

3rd Annual SELS Gratitude Dinner coming up on December 7th, at 6pm at the New Rec Center Gym.

Gratitude Night is a special event when SELS families, staff and friends come together to express gratitude for all we have. It is also a great opportunity to meet and visit with families within our school. The event is a buffet style potluck dinner and each crew will be assigned to bring a dish to share with at least 12 servings per student. HOLIDAY BOOK DRIVE

Tahoe Truckee Reads is holding a Holiday Book Drive for preschool readers. Donations of new or gently used preschool age books (board books, picture books, ages 0-5) will be collected and distributed to our local state preschools and HeadStart programs so the children and their families will have “new” books going into the holiday break. Please drop off donations in the crate in the Library. Collection day is Fri, Dec 14.

BEAR WALK

Preliminary results of the SELS Bear Walk is over $2500 raised with more money coming in daily! Thank you to everyone!

FALL FAMILY PHOTO SHOOT
21 families joined A Day in Your Life Photography at Martis Camp Family Barn. A big thank you to photographers, Donna and John and the staff at the Martis Camp Family Barn. Also thank you to the Gallagher Family for organizing the utilization of the Martis Camp Family Barn! A great time was had by all.

TRICK or TREAT for UNICEF
If your child collected coins for UNICEF, please return them to the large jar in the library. We will count and send one check to UNICEF by the middle of December.
