Not much to report this week. Things are going well, new expeditions are under way, and some crews are beginning winter x-country skiing.

Girls on the Run – Sierras is gearing up for the spring season at SELS starting the week of March 18th and culminating in the Girls on the Run 5k Fun Run on Saturday June 8th.  The empowering 10-week program for 3rd – 5th grade girls will meet twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30 to 5:00 pm.  For the program to go at SELS, parents are needed to volunteer as a coach or support the girls as a Running Buddy at one practice and the 5k (need about 4 volunteers). Our main requirement is enthusiasm and a commitment to the healthy development of young girls!  For more information on registering a girl for the program or volunteering, talk to the SELS liason Amanda Woodruff (awoodruff@jumatv.com) or visit www.GirlsontheRunSierras.org.

Arts For the Schools is bringing the Missoula Children’s Theatre to our region the week of March 11th.  There will be an open audition for students in grades K-5 for production of ‘The Tortoise Versus The Hare’.  The open audition will be conducted by two MCT tour Actor/Directors who will choose a cast of 50-60 children.  Below is the relevant information for the audition.  Audition date and time is March 11th 3-5 pm at the Boys and Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe in Kings Beach.  After the auditions are completed at 5 pm on March 11th specific cast members will be asked to stay for the first rehearsal that evening.
