Expedition Express
FIRE and ICE! This an exciting time for our crew as we put the final touches on our Victorian Holiday Historical Tour presentations and prepare for our tour dates in downtown Truckee. Students have worked hard on researching, writing, and practicing their tour information and will be ready to share their in-depth knowledge of historical buildings during Festive Fridays in downtown the first couple of weeks in December.
Victorian Holiday Historical Tour: As a final product for our Fire and Ice Expedition, both MinBorg and Welch crews will be hosting family, friends, and shoppers over the next couple of weeks leading historical tours of buildings along Commercial Row in downtown Truckee. Crew News
Library: Our library visits have been very enjoyable, and the kids are always excited to go. Please remember that if your child has an overdue book they will not be able to check out any books until the fine has been paid. We also ask that overdue fines be paid before our library visits rather than during our visits.
Winter Break: Our winter break is just around the corner. Two weeks of fun, family, and snow…hopefully. We also want to be sure some time is set aside for reading, writing about wintertime enjoyment, and if possible some front row math practice. We pick up right where we left off come January, and we want everyone to be prepared for that.
Indoor Shoes: Students are encouraged to bring indoor shoes (slippers, Vans, etc.) with a rubber sole to school to wear during class. Students may change out of their snow covered boots in the morning and wear dry shoes during class. This will save the carpets in our classroom and keep it dry while we are working on the floor during many activities in our crew.
Harvest of the Month:Cassie Hebel brought in some yummy sweet potatoes for the crew to try this month. Thanks for taking the time to introduce new foods to the students!
Celebration of Learning: C.O.L will take place Thursday, December 15th from 6:00-7:30pm. Since our students will be performing downtown December 9th, our C.O.L will be more of a showcase of their expedition work to date. A wonderful time for your child to share what they have learned in depth, and to teach you a thing or two about Truckee history. We look forward to seeing you!
