Expedition Express
FIRE and ICE! This an exciting time for our crew as we put the final touches on our Victorian Holiday Historical Tour presentations and prepare for our tour dates in downtown Truckee. Students have worked hard on researching, writing, and practicing their tour information and will be ready to share their in-depth knowledge of historical buildings during Festive Fridays in downtown the first couple of weeks in December.

Holiday Book Orders: Scholastic Books are a great gift idea this holiday season for your budding reader at home. IF you would like to order books as a gift and want it to be a surprise, just send me a quick email letting me know the order is a gift. I will set the books aside and give them to you on Thursday, December 15 at Celebration of Learning or I will wrap them in plain paper and send them home with your child. Scholastic Book Orders are due on Friday, December 2. This will ensure delivery before winter break.
Winter clothing: Just a reminder that with the colder temperatures during winter, it is important to make sure your child is properly dressed for outdoor activities. Students eat lunch and participate in recess/PE activities outside during the winter months. Warm jackets, pants, hats, gloves, and boots are highly recommended.
Indoor Shoes: Students are encouraged to bring indoor shoes (slippers, Vans, etc.) with a rubber sole to school to wear during class. Students may change out of their snow covered boots in the morning and wear dry shoes during class. This will save the carpets in our classroom and keep it dry while we are working on the floor during many activities in our crew.
Library visits: We will have 2 Nevada County Library visits to the Truckee Branch on December 1 and 15. Please help your child remember to bring their books to school to avoid any late fees. Parent Highlight: I would like to thank Kristi Hood for walking to the library with us each visit. We couldn’t do it without you.
Grandparent Highlight: Visiting grandparents Laura and Rick Brisbin joined us in November on our trip to the Library. So great to have the “Grands” join in on our learning experiences.
