Expedition Express: FIRE and ICE
Throughout the month of January, we will be wrapping up our Fire and Ice expedition with one final case study focusing on the Native American tribes that live/lived around the Tahoe/Truckee area. Students will learn about local tribes through a variety of books, activities and an afternoon with a notable Washoe tribe member that visited SELS last year for an all school assembly.

Crew News
Tahoe Donner Cross Country Skiing: Our first day on the snow was a big success. Everyone had a great time in the bluebird conditions. As part of SELS scaffolded adventure program, we will take the students cross country skiing four half days through January and February. The students will be setting goals and reflecting on their skiing progress in a self-competitive fashion. Please send your child prepared according to the weather forecast. Although all ski gear can be provided, your child is welcome to bring their own. Click here to view or add Snow Photos.

MinBorg Crew Hosts Community Meeting – Join us on Friday, Jan. 20 from 9:15-9:45 and watch the MinBorg students run an all school morning meeting. Your child will love to see you there!

Fuego y hielo

A lo largo del mes de enero, estaremos terminando nuestra expedición de Fuego y Hielo con un estudio de caso final centrado en las tribus nativas americanas que viven / vivieron alrededor del área de Tahoe / Truckee. Los estudiantes aprenderán acerca de las tribus locales a través de una variedad de libros, actividades y una tarde con un notable miembro de la tribu Washoe que visitó el SELS el año pasado para una asamblea de toda la escuela.

Tahoe Donner Esquí de fondo – Nuestro primer día en la nieve fue un gran éxito. Todo el mundo tenía un gran tiempo en las condiciones bluebird. Como parte del programa de aventura de andamios de SELS, llevaremos a los estudiantes de esquí de fondo cuatro días y medio a través de enero y febrero. Los estudiantes estarán fijando metas y reflexionando sobre su progreso de esquí de una manera auto-competitiva. Por favor, envíe a su niño preparado de acuerdo con la previsión del tiempo. Aunque todo el equipo de esquí se puede proporcionar, su hijo es bienvenido a traer su propio.
