Sara Jones joined Sierra Expeditionary Learning School as the resource teacher in 2013. She earned her BA in English from UC Davis and her Special Education Mild/Moderate and Moderate/Severe credentials from CSU Fresno. She has been teaching since 2008 in various settings, starting her career at an Autism center. She then moved on to become a High School SDC teacher in Denver, Colorado. In 2013 she and her husband made their way back to their native California and moved to the Tahoe-Truckee area. Since then she has been the resource teacher at SELS.

Sara continues to be inspired by the mission of SELS.  She feels grateful to be part of a school with such a strong commitment to character education and outdoor learning, while also fostering a caring and accepting environment.  She enjoys being able to work with students of all ages from Kindergarten to 8th grade at SELS.
Sara and her husband love living in the Tahoe-Truckee area because of its beauty and the active lifestyle it provides. Sara loves to travel, hike, bike, and cook. At the end of 2015, Sara and her husband, Eliot, welcomed a baby girl into their lives! They are loving their newest adventure of parenthood.
