Brisbin Crew News 11.10.11
Design Principle
Our crew is leaning about Service and Compassion this month. Ask your student how he or she can exhibit this very special design principle.
Language Arts
We will start our new literature circles next week. Our readers will study one of three titles: Island of the Blue Dolphins, by O’Dell, Riding Freedom, by Munoz, or Stowaway: A Tale of California Pirates. All three titles focus on different periods of California’s history.
Our authors have been working hard at refining an informed response to literature. They are completing a piece of culminating writing with our novel, By the Great Horn Spoon.
Mathematics
Fourth graders are working with place value and multiplication with larger numbers. Fifth graders are working on geometry and measurement.
Expedition – Treasure Hunters
Our gold rush experts are busy constructing the script of their final product. We are working on a musical play highlighting different aspects of the California Gold Rush. We will perform our “show” on December 15th. Please save this evening!
Yosemite Fundraising Update
Students are working hard selling bags for our Chico Bag fundraiser. Thanks for Ursula Riina and Mrs. Brisbin for heading this effort!
