Expedition Express
Fire and Ice: Our current expedition is wrapping up this month as the crew complete’s a study of historical figures in Truckee. Each student is currently designing a poster depicting their notable Truckee character. Students researched information in books and on the web, while working with a partner, and will share their findings with the crew next week.
Question of the Week:
- Who is your Truckee historical figure and why is he important to the history of Truckee?
- Describe your poster in detail.
Please encourage your child to create a homemade message for each member of our crew with a thoughtful note about that individual person. Avoid generic comments like, “You’re nice.” It is important for each student to take the time to mention something specific about each crew member. Examples may include, “I really like when you invite me to eat lunch with you. It makes me feel happy inside.” Or “You make me smile everyday when you come to school and share your funny stories.”
Nevada County Library: February 14th will be a busy day for the Welch crew as we will also be walking to the Nevada County Library on that day. Please make sure your child brings their library books to school on that day to avoid late fees.
Harvest of the Month: Thursday, February 7, our crew will be tasting BEETS. I can hardly wait to see what yummy recipe Dana Mudd brings to school this week. The students really enjoy the monthly tastings.
