Expedition News

Anato-ME: We have wrapped up our first case study focusing on the 5 major human body systems (skeletal, muscular, circulatory, digestive, and respiratory) and are now moving into our second case study of Healthy Living.   This expedition has been rich with expert including:

Students participated in a baseline fitness assessment that we will periodically check-in with and track their progress to show improvement.  Be sure to ask them exactly what they did so they can practice at home too.

Questions of the Week:

  • What are the major parts of the respiratory system?
  • What is your favorite body system and why?
  • What do you hope to improve within your fitness assessment?

 Crew News

STAR Testing: Next week begins out California State Testing (CST) for 2nd and 3rd grade students in English Language Arts and Math.  Student will be tested on ELA on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (May 7-9) and the following week on Math (May 14-16).  Please take time to sign-up on the google doc to bring in a healthy morning snack to eat before testing.  It is important for student to get a good night’s rest and a healthy breakfast during these two weeks of testing.

Overnight Camping Adventure: Our overnight camping trip is scheduled for May 21 and 22.  Information packets will come home next week and please be on the lookout for volunteer sign-ups.  The sign-ups are a first come, first serve basis, so if you plan to join your child on this camping trip, please sign-up early.

3rd Grade Passages: Third grade passages are scheduled for June 11th and 12th.  In preparation for this presentation all 3rd grade students are required to take the passage elective during the final session.  This will allow the 3rd grade student to revise and prepare for this important demonstration of knowledge to a public audience. If you have questions regarding passages please feel free to contact me.

Last day of school has been moved up to Thurs. June 13th.   Our Passage Cermony will take place the morning of Thursday, June 14th.
