Conferences
It was a pleasure to meet with all of you for our goal setting conferences. The students did a remarkable job creating SMART goals for themselves. We will revisit these goals in March.
Language Arts
Students will be wrapping up their literature circle books in the next few weeks. Keep on the lookout for exciting new titles!
Our authors just finished a persuasive letter that supports our Yosemite fundraising efforts. Next week, we will continue to work on a response to literature. Students will focus on the organization of this writing piece.
Mathematics
Fourth graders are working with place value and multiplication of larger numbers. Fifth graders just finished a multiplication and division unit on Friday. Early next week we will work on standard algorithms and then move on to geometry and measurement.
Expedition – Treasure Hunters
Our gold rush experts have begun constructing the script of their final product. We are working on a musical play highlighting different aspects of the California Gold Rush. We will perform our “show” on December 15th. Please save this evening!
Yosemite Fundraising Update
We earned almost $1400 during our first big fundraising push – the Pitch ‘n Putt! Thank you to ALL to helped with this tremendous effort. A special thank you needs to be sent out to Martha and Kevin Murphy, Marcy Thompson,. and Alaina Reichwald.
There will be another fundraising meeting on Thursday, November 3rd, in our room. Please come if you can.
At this point, we have four service club presentations set up. The Ferreras (thank you) are busy lining up more, so I will continue to ask for student volunteers as we get on the meeting agendas. Keep and eye out for these emails.
